ActionAid, being part of a consortium of 14 civil society organizations working to advance the implementation of the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG), is calling for entries from Zimbabwean journalists. The Awards is an initiative to recognize and honour journalists in Zimbabwe who have been working on critical, analytical and high-quality reports that amplify the cause of the said Charter and the broader African Governance Architecture (AGA) in the country.

ActionAid Zimbabwe, in collaboration with the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zimbabwe Chapter, convened two (2) training workshops for journalists and media practitioners in 2018 and 2019 to raise their awareness on the ACDEG implementation processes. The two-day workshops were held in Kadoma on two separate occasions. A total of 40 journalists drawn from the public and private media were in attendance.

ActionAid Zimbabwe hereby makes a Call for Entries for Zimbabwean Journalist who have worked on ACDEG to submit their works for consideration. The competitive awards scheme forms part of activities under the Africa We Want project, titled “Mobilizing Civil Society Support for Implementation of the African Governance Architecture,” which is being implemented by the fourteen (14) consortium members with funding support from the European Commission.

The deadline for the submission of the entries is 10 September 2020 at 23:59 Central African Time. Nominees for the Journalism Awards on the ACDEG will be announced on a date to be advised in September 2020.
